Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description We are seeking an intermediate-level local Equipment Operator to join our team for projects throughout Johnson City and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable operator with strong excavation and underground utility experience who takes pride in quality workmanship and working safely on active job sites. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on commercial and civil construction projects. Excavate and maintain straight, accurate trench lines for underground utility installation. Proven piping and underground utility installation experience is required. Work closely with crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. Essential Skills Excavator Heavy equipment Dozer Construction Backhoe Heavy equipment operation Front end loader Equipment operation Excavation Underground utility Grading Utility construction Pipe installation Underground piping Underground utilities GPS Additional Skills & Qualifications Pipe laying and GPS experience. Work Environment Work outdoors alongside small, close-knit crews on a variety of local projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kingsport, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
