Pond Builder / Heavy Equipment OperatorJob Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Pond Builder / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating heavy machinery and performing all aspects of pond construction, including land clearing, grading, excavation, and final site preparation. This position requires a strong understanding of proper drainage, slope management, and safe equipment operation to produce high-quality finished projects. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, loaders, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently. Perform land clearing, excavation, grading, and pond construction according to project specifications. Establish and maintain proper slopes, grades, and drainage to ensure long-term functionality and erosion control. Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project layouts. Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe operation. Work with the crew to complete projects on schedule while maintaining quality standards. Identify and resolve grading, drainage, and soil-related issues in the field. Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Maintain a clean and organized job site. Qualifications Minimum of 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in earthmoving, pond construction, or related site work. Proven experience with land clearing, excavation, grading, and finish grading. Thorough understanding of proper slope, drainage, and erosion control practices. Ability to safely operate excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, loaders, and other heavy equipment. Ability to read site plans and follow grade specifications. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Preferred Skills Experience constructing ponds, lakes, or water management projects. Knowledge of GPS or laser grading systems. Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
