BRIEF DESCRIPTION
To operate an automated and manual refuse truck, wheeled loader and skid steer to accomplish assigned activities without supervision as well as operate office computer and provide superior customer service. Follows all safety policies. This position involves responsibility for valuable equipment. Duties include operating various types of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles, and computer input and customer service.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to service and make minor repairs on equipment and to know safety standards and prevent hazards; Ability to learn Scale transaction computer program and other computer processes Ability to safely drive, back, and operate the heavy equipment on busy City streets paying close attention to other vehicles, pedestrians, team members, parked vehicles, overhead obstructions, tree limbs, etc. Ability to read a map to navigate the streets/routes for the City of Cleburne Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent and at least one (1) years of experience in operation of heavy equipment; OR Sufficient education to read and calculate and least three (3) years of experience in operation of heavy equipment; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED A
Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License with Airbrake endorsement or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperatures swings, and inclement weather Some exposure to odors, dust, fumes, and loud noises that are routinely encountered in trash collecting environment
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Standard office equipment including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, shredder, printer, etc. Track loader, motor grader, water truck, miscellaneous pumps, generators, tractor with batwing mower, zero turn mower and weed eater. Operates front-end loader, skid steer, refuse truck and other heavy equipment. Ability to handle tools and equipment with both hands and all fingers.
