Job Description

Scope of Work Equipment Operator I is an entry-level Equipment Operator Position. Training on street maintenance equipment will be provided. Equipment Operator I will perform a variety of tasks including general labor and the operation of motorized equipment and hand tools used in the maintenance and/or construction of the City of Midland's street and drainage infrastructure and perform daily preventative maintenance on motorized equipment and/or hand tools. Physical and Environmental Conditions The incumbent works in an outside environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Must be able to lift working materials several times daily. Required Qualifications Minimum Education & Work Experience High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) 6 months experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment Knowledge of basic safe work practices Knowledge in care, operation and maintenance of various power tools and equipment Skill in operating light and heavy equipment Skill in general maintenance and repair Skill in effective oral and written communication Ability to operate a variety of power-driven equipment Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision Ability to work in a team environment Licenses & Certifications Valid Class C Texas driver's license Competencies Adaptability/Flexibility Customer Service Dependability Quality Self-Development Teamwork Technical Skills Monday - Thursday; 10 Hour workday; Overtime may be required as needed.
