Backhoe Operator

Craft and Technical Solutions is an established marine and industrial staffing company with offices nationwide. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Backhoe Operators to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating backhoes and other heavy equipment to assist in excavation, grading, and site preparation activities. This role is vital to ensuring efficient project progress, safety, and adherence to construction standards. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with various construction machinery, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities:

Operate backhoes and related heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and water trucks to perform excavation, trenching, loading, and site clearing tasks. Assist in the setup and preparation of construction sites by performing tasks such as grading and leveling surfaces. Utilize horizontal drilling equipment and tanker trucks when required for utility installations or other specialized tasks. Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly. Coordinate with team members to execute construction activities efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Support other heavy equipment operations including dump trucks and paving machinery as needed on various projects. Maintain a clean work environment by ensuring machinery is properly maintained and stored after use.

Requirements:

Proven experience operating backhoes and heavy construction equipment in a commercial or construction setting. Mechanical knowledge of excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, water trucks, and other related machinery. Valid commercial driver's license with a clean driving record; experience with transporting heavy equipment is preferred. Hands-on experience with construction site activities such as excavation, grading, paving, and utility installation. Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT) machinery or similar brands; ability to perform basic maintenance checks. Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation on active construction sites. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining high safety standards and attention to detail. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
