Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview The Asphalt Heavy Equipment Front End Loader Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that works with the crew foreman with primary responsibilities of operating a front-end loader distributing essential components for paving function. The ideal candidate is familiar with paving machines of different types and has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations. Key Responsibilities Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the front-end loader. Heavy equipment experience is a plus. Inspect equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same. Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential! Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews. Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other tools and equipment. Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned and organized to company standards. May be called upon to run power tools. Must demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely. Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials. Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices as needed. Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite Perform other duties as requested and assigned Qualifications 2-3 years' experience within the asphalt industry 1-2 years' experience of operating paving equipment Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset. Must be positive, friendly, and professional. Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting. Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture. Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others. Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas. Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Mid-Level Position Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is required. Familiarity with OSHA regulations High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required Working Conditions Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required. Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas. Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements. Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required. Proper PPE is required at all times. Benefits This position is
