Heavy Equipment Operator - Job Description Job Title Heavy Equipment Operator Position Overview TSJ Construction is seeking professional, skilled, and safety‑driven Heavy Equipment Operators to support field operations across various project sites. Operators will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, scrapers, forklifts, and skid steers. Duties include equipment inspections, safe operation, basic maintenance, and adherence to all company and OSHA safety standards. Project‑based travel is required depending on job location and operational needs. Key Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of assigned equipment prior to operation. Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, scrapers, and more. Maintain proper care, cleanliness, and basic maintenance of equipment. Load, move, grade, and excavate materials in accordance with project specifications. Communicate and coordinate with site supervisors and crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations. Construction Standards during all work activities. Participate in required safety training, toolbox talks, and hazard‑specific instruction. Complete all tasks while maintaining high quality and strong safety awareness. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and basic equipment maintenance. Ability to read and follow safety procedures, jobsite instructions, and load charts. Ability to use hand and power tools related to the trade. Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work performed outdoors in conditions including extreme heat, cold, dust, dirt, fumes, and loud noise. Exposure to heavy equipment hazards; strict adherence to OSHA and company safety rules required. Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials weighing 50+ pounds. Extended periods of sitting while operating machinery, as well as standing, walking, and climbing on/off equipment. Salary is Utah Davis Bacon Wages.
