We operate at a premium hospitality standard, supported by best-in-class technology, rigorous SOPs, and a service-first culture. Our Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in ensuring every home is safe, functional, and guest-ready—every stay, every time. Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing day-to-day maintenance and repair work across Ember Stays properties. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and rapid response to issues that impact guest experience or property quality. You'll work closely with the Maintenance Manager, housekeeping teams, and operations staff to ensure homes consistently meet Ember's quality, safety, and brand standards. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repairs Complete assigned maintenance tickets efficiently and to Ember quality standards. Perform routine repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, doors/locks, pools/spas, and general home systems. Troubleshoot issues and identify root causes to prevent repeat problems. Support emergency maintenance needs as required. Inspections & Preventative Maintenance Conduct routine, preventative, and pre-arrival inspections. Complete scheduled maintenance tasks (filters, batteries, detectors, softeners, HVAC checks, pool/spa systems, etc.). Identify wear-and-tear or potential failures before they impact guests or owners. Property Quality Support Assist housekeeping teams with issues identified during cleans (damaged items, missing inventory, malfunctioning systems). Ensure homes are fully guest-ready before arrival. Maintain Ember's hospitality-quality standards across all assigned properties. Inventory, Tools & Documentation Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in good working order. Track and restock commonly used parts and consumables. Document completed work accurately in Ember's maintenance system, including photos and notes. Communication & Coordination Communicate clearly with the Maintenance Manager regarding job status, delays, or escalations. Coordinate with vendors when assigned or when specialized work is required. Provide timely updates to operations and housekeeping teams as needed. Safety & Professional Standards Follow all safety procedures, SOPs, and equipment protocols. Operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment responsibly. Represent Ember professionally when interacting with team members, vendors, and owners. Qualifications Required 2-4+ years of hands-on maintenance, facilities, or property support experience. Working knowledge of home systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances). Strong troubleshooting and basic repair skills. Comfortable using mobile apps and work-order systems. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Preferred Experience in short-term rental, hotel, or hospitality maintenance. Familiarity with smart home systems (smart locks, thermostats, routers, lighting). Basic understanding of safety standards and building best practices. Pool/spa maintenance experience a plus. Work Environment Primarily field-based across Ember Stays properties. Physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and working with tools. Occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call rotation for urgent issues.
