Job Description

Company Overview McCown Technology Corporation is a telecommunications contractor for a local internet service provider. Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Excavator Operator to join our team and support fiber optics installation projects. This role involves operating construction machinery with precision, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring efficient excavation work on construction sites. The ideal candidate will bring construction experience, mechanical knowledge, and a proactive safety mindset to contribute to successful project completion. Splicing experience is a big plus as is experience placing cables in conduit with jetting equipment. Duties - Will train but prefer experience Operate excavators, cable plows, horizontal directional drills and other heavy machinery to perform precise excavation for fiber optic cable installation. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on equipment. Cable placement using air powered jetting equipment. Fiber optic cable splicing Use utility locating tools to identify underground utilities before excavation, preventing damage and ensuring safety compliance. Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times during operations. Collaborate with construction teams to ensure adherence to project timelines and safety standards while executing excavation tasks efficiently. Skills - Will Train but prefer experience Experience operating excavators, directional drills, cable plows. Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment safely. Skilled in utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities prior to excavation work. Ability to perform construction grading and site preparation tasks accurately. Valid commercial truck driving license with experience in commercial driving is preferred.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
