Brief Description Under broad guidance, the Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of wastewater pipeline and pumping systems, including pressurized pipelines, gravity mains, and pumping stations with guidance from supervisors and System Maintenance Technicians. This role includes hands-on technical work, the operation of heavy equipment, and motor vehicles that require a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and mentoring staff. Detailed Description Job Requirements Education Required High school diploma or GED Desired Training in heavy equipment operation or maintenance-related courses. Experience Required Knowledge of hydraulically operated construction tools, interceptor line-cleaning, heavy equipment, backhoes or other heavy construction/maintenance equipment Desired Experience in utility operations, industrial/mechanical repair, or construction environments. Experience in the operation, maintenance, and construction of pipeline and pumping systems. Understanding of utility systems with an emphasis on sanitary sewers. Licenses and Certifications Requirements Valid driver's license from state of residence. Class A Commercial Driver's License with H (Hazardous Materials) and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements (to be obtained within 6 months of appointment).
