Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team for a challenging and rewarding role. You will operate various types of heavy construction equipment, including motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, and front-end loaders. Your primary tasks will involve excavating, moving, and grading earth, erecting structures, and pouring concrete or other hard surface pavement. Additionally, you may be required to repair and maintain equipment. Responsibilities Operate heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, rollers, and front-end loaders. Excavate, move, and grade earth; erect structures; and pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. Repair and maintain equipment as needed. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations. Adhere to safety procedures and practices at all times. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years experience running, maneuvering, driving, and navigating heavy equipment. Proficiency in operating excavators, skidsteers, bobcats, and other heavy machinery. Ability to convey information effectively to team members. Demonstrated attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma is strongly preferred. Accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions. Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Work Environment This role involves working outdoors on a bridge tunnel project with exposure to various weather conditions. Shifts are scheduled on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with 12-hour shifts from 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
