Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description We are seeking skilled equipment operators to join our team in Suffolk. The role involves performing dozer work on various projects, including site preparation for construction, land grading to maintain level surfaces, roadway construction, stormwater line installation, erosion control system installation, and pipe laying. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and loaders to perform fine and rough grading. Prepare construction sites by grading land and maintaining level surfaces. Perform roadway construction and install storm water lines. Install erosion control systems and lay pipes. Essential Skills Proficiency in operating heavy equipment including bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, scrapers, dump trucks, motor graders, mini excavators, skid steers, bobcats, and rubber tire loaders. Experience with earthworks and construction tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with fine and rough grading. Ability to work well in small crews. Why Work Here? Crews are small, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Work is performed on base, with occasional assignments on the Eastern Shore. Employees must wear work clothing and PPE gear, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and reflective vests. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
