Job Description

Job Description Summary:
The Civil Construction Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, graders, loaders, and cranes. This is a full-time, hourly position. The Civil Equipment Operator is a field position with the requirement to work in all weather conditions. Office and training work depends on the company and project demands and requirements. This role requires a high level of skill and attention to production and safety. At times this position is required to perform various tasks such as hands-on physical labor. Below is a list of some of the job specific tasks related to this position but is not inclusive of all duties assigned. Duties
  • Work on a range of projects from mass excavation/grading, site preparation, land clearing, utility installation, etc.
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, etc.
  • Operate a variety of tools including rotary and pipe lasers, hand tools, compactors, etc.
  • Construct pipe, calculate grades and slopes, interpret and construct per plan.
  • Aid laborers and others on the crew.
  • Properly follow all safety procedures including the safe operation of equipment
  • Maintain, Fuel and clean machinery after use to ensure longevity and reliability
  • Maintain clear, accurate timecard and work diaries.
  • Preparing and maintaining a clean and safe work site.
Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent. A minimum of one year (1) of proven experience as a heavy equipment operator. A minimum of 2 years (2) of experience in the construction industry. General knowledge of civil construction work, including materials, means and methods, equipment/tools utilized in the process. Mathematics, written, verbal communication skills, and basic technology knowledge. The ability to obtain company required safety and training certificates. A willingness to learn and train others as needed Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather and lift forty (40) pounds at a time. Work as a team with a good attitude in adverse conditions. Valid driver's license and clean driving record, if a company vehicle is issued. Reliable transportation and the ability to meet work schedule obligations Work hours may include nights, weekends, or overtime based on project needs.
