Job Description
Outsider BBQ & Beer Garden Seattle, WAOutsider BBQ is a high-volume, fast-growing Texas-style barbecue restaurant in Seattle's Frelard neighborhood, built around real wood-fired barbecue, hospitality, and craftsmanship.
We don't cook with shortcuts. We cook with fire, smoke, patience, and attention to detail.
We're looking for a dedicated Pitmaster Team Member to join our smoking and meat production team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys working independently and as part of a team, and wants to learn the art and science of authentic barbecue.
What You'll DoAs part of our Pit Team, you will help produce the barbecue that drives our entire operation.
Responsibilities include:
Seasoning, preparing, and loading meats for overnight and daytime cooksOperating and monitoring wood-fired smokersManaging fire, airflow, temperature, and smoke qualityWrapping, rotating, and finishing meats throughout the cookFollowing production schedules and quality standardsMaintaining smoker areas, wood storage, and prep areasRecording cook logs, temperatures, and production dataWorking safely while handling hot equipment, heavy products, and live-fire cookingWhat We're Looking ForYou don't need years of BBQ experience, but you do need the right attitude.
The ideal candidate:
Is dependable and shows up on timeTakes pride in doing things the right wayWorks well independently with minimal supervisionPays attention to details and consistencyStays calm under pressureCan lift 50+ pounds repeatedlyIs comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditionsUnderstands food safety and sanitation practicesWants to learn and grow within a professional barbecue operationPrevious experience with BBQ, smoking meats, kitchens, catering, food trucks, butchery, or live-fire cooking is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
ScheduleThis position may include:
Early morning shiftsOvernight smoking shiftsFull-time and part-time opportunitiesFlexibility is highly valued.
