Non-Exempt About Us We are a fast-growing scenic shop with deep roots in the haunted attraction industry, expanding into immersive experiences, premieres, brand activations, and theme park-style builds. Our projects range from highly detailed show environments to large-scale scenic elements. Position Summary The Scenic Painter executes a wide variety of specialty paint treatments and finishes on scenic elements, props, and themed environments. This temp role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to shift between heavily distressed/aged textures and clean, polished finishes in a fast-paced shop. Key Responsibilities Prepare surfaces through sanding, patching, filling, priming, masking, and Bondo work. Apply paints, washes, glazes, sealers, and clear coats using sprayers and professional tools. Execute finishes from distressing, aging, texturing, and faux effects to smooth, high-quality applications. Collaborate with fabricators, sculptors, and leads to meet design intent and deadlines. Maintain clean, safe work areas and support on-site production as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a scenic, decorative, or prop painter. Expertise in paint systems, washes, glazes, primers, sealers, and clear coats. Proficiency with surface prep (sanding, filling, masking) and sprayers. Strong eye for color, texture, and detail; ability to interpret references/renderings. Comfortable lifting materials, standing for long periods, and multitasking in a shop environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in haunted attractions, themed entertainment, or immersive production. Knowledge of faux finishes (wood grain, rust, stone, patina) on foam, wood, fiberglass, and plastics. OSHA/shop safety familiarity.
