The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill two (2) Painter vacancies within the Oakland Public Works Department, Keep Oakland Clean & Beautiful (KOCB) Division. The Painter performs the full scope of skilled painting duties on interior and exterior structure surfaces; electrical and mechanical equipment; fences and furniture for City facilities; and may act as lead to assigned personnel. The ideal candidate has experience painting with various tools and techniques; has worked on all kinds of structures and surfaces and at different heights; and has demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices. The individual has good communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability to follow instructions. We are looking for someone who is:

Technically Skilled:

You should possess techniques when it comes to mixing paint, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and painting both interiors and exteriors.

You should be able to paint a variety of different items, structures, and surfaces at differing heights. Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience:

Four years experience in an accredited apprenticeship program in painting or two years journey level experience in painting.

Individuals who are appointed to this position will be required to maintain a valid California Driver's License throughout the tenure of employment OR demonstrate the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as required in the performance of duties.
