The Lead Painter organizes and schedules painting assignments, assures the timely availability of materials, and provides lead work direction, training, and guidance to painters. The incumbent is responsible for providing a safe operating environment for all employees who use hazardous labeled paints and solvents, educating them of the current EPA regulations. The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Access CMMS to review & complete work orders Reads and interprets work orders to determine appropriate color and coating to perform work Use variety of manual and power tools to support projects Support 3rd party tenants and rental spaces within the ballpark Oversee and perform duties in the painting and refinishing of facility buildings, and furniture, both interior and exterior. Plan, organize, and oversee activity of the paint shop. Receive and prioritize work orders and schedule painter assignments accordingly. Prepare surfaces and furniture for refurbish by cleaning, priming, sealing, varnishing, painting, plastering, and stuccoing various types of wood, metal, and masonry. Inspect facility surfaces both interior and exterior to determine surface wear and deterioration. Calculate estimates on labor and material costs. Order and purchase all supplies and materials needed. Prepare sketches or drawings with dimensions for striping parking lots, loading docks and traffic routing. Provide input and assistance, as requested to the director or designee concerning blueprints, technical data, contract language, or legal requirements pertaining to methods, materials, and application standards for all in-house or contract painting work or new construction. Prepare reports of cost estimates for supplies and labor on major paint jobs. Train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff Conduct safety meetings for painters, advising of common safety standards when applying hazardous paints or solvents Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent GED, or equivalent military experience Completion of an approved apprentice vocational program or four years of progressively responsible experience Previous supervisory experience required Valid driver's license Ability to respond to worksite within 90 min in the event of an emergency Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions Knowledge of standard work practices and methods, OSHA safety standards, fire and building codes, Nationals policies and procedures, and hazardous material handling Ability to work safely & effectively under pressure in meeting deadlines Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to understand and apply principles to solve practical problems Calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages Ability to effectively communicate via electronic means (e.g., handheld radio, cell phone, email and or text) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users Ability and eagerness to work in a team-oriented maintenance department where daily work activities will include tasks both within and outside of specific trade disciplines Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended workdays and extended number of consecutive days

Physical/Environmental Requirements Worker will be subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, hazards and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation). Job at times may require employee to function in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue. May work at heights Requires an employee to perform strenuous tasks requiring strength, coordination, and balance Requires an employee to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment Requires an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb (ladders, stairs scaffolding, ramps ,etc.), reach, walk, or stand for extended periods Requires walking / standing of >3 hours per day
Compensation:
The projected wage rate for this position is $30.52 - $40.70 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant's: qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries for new employees are frequently not at the top of the applicable salary range.
