POSITION SUMMARY
The Healthcare Facilities Painter is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of healthcare facilities through professional painting, wall repair, and surface maintenance. The position works primarily during evening hours to minimize disruption to patients, visitors, and clinical operations while ensuring all work is completed in accordance with healthcare safety, infection prevention and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and drywall repair. Apply paint, stain, and specialty coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, cabinets, and other facility surfaces. Perform touch-up painting and cosmetic repairs throughout medical offices, surgery centers, and administrative spaces. Match paint colors and finishes to existing surfaces. Repair minor drywall damage, nail holes, dents, and surface imperfections. Protect furniture, flooring, equipment, and adjacent areas during painting activities. Maintain painting tools, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized condition. Follow infection prevention protocols, including containment measures when working in patient care areas. Coordinate work with Facilities Management and department leaders to minimize operational disruptions. Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive, update, document, and close work orders accurately and in a timely manner. Document labor hours, materials used, project progress, and completed work within the CMMS. Assist in identifying recurring maintenance issues and provide recommendations for corrective action through the work order system. Identify and report facility deficiencies requiring additional maintenance or repair. Ensure compliance with OSHA, life safety, infection prevention, and healthcare regulatory requirements. Always maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist with minor carpentry, ceiling tile replacement, and other cosmetic facility repairs as assigned. Required travel to all ASC and clinical offices including but not limited to: Jacksonville Center of Endoscopy Southside, Jacksonville Center of Riverside, Orange Park Endoscopy Center, Durbin Crossing Endoscopy Center, Nassau Crossing Endoscopy Center, St. Augustine Endoscopy Center; clinical office locations: Southside, Riverside, Beaches, Downtown, University Blvd, Durbin Crossing, Nassau Crossing, Fleming Island, Orange Park, St. Augustine. Reliable transportation to fulfill job-related travel requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of commercial painting experience preferred. Experience in healthcare, medical office, hospitality or commercial facilities strongly preferred. Experience utilizing a CMMS or work order management system preferred. Knowledge of painting techniques, drywall repair, surface preparation, and finishing methods. Ability to safely operate ladders, scaffolding, and painting equipment. Ability to safely handle paints, solvents, and related materials. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
