Job Description

Job Summary SurfacePro Studios is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Painter Helper to join our team in the Tampa area. This position plays a critical role in supporting our painters by preparing entry doors for painting and refinishing projects. If you take pride in quality workmanship, pay close attention to detail, and enjoy hands-on work, we'd love to hear from you. What You'll Do Prepare commercial and residential entry doors for repainting and refinishing. Clean surfaces and remove dirt, adhesive residue, and loose paint. Sand existing finishes and feather repaired areas to create smooth, paint-ready surfaces. Fill dents, imperfections, and other surface defects. Mask and protect surrounding areas, including door frames, thresholds, walls, flooring, and adjacent fixtures. Remove, label, and reinstall door hardware such as kick plates, peepholes, door closers, and weather stripping. Apply appropriate primers when required and prepare both wood and metal doors for finish application. Inspect prepared doors to ensure they meet quality standards before they are turned over to the painter. Maintain a clean and organized work area and keep tools and materials readily available. Qualifications Ability to assist painters with the preparation of commercial or residential entry doors for repainting or refinishing. Ability to remove, label, and reinstall door hardware, including kick plates, peepholes, door closers, weather stripping, and other accessories as directed. Ability to prepare entry doors by cleaning surfaces, removing dirt and adhesive residue, scraping loose paint, sanding existing finishes, filling dents and imperfections, and feathering repaired areas to create a smooth surface for painting. Ability to mask and protect surrounding areas, including door frames, thresholds, walls, flooring, and adjacent fixtures to prevent overspray or paint transfer. Knowledge of proper surface preparation techniques for both wood and metal entry doors, including the application of appropriate primers when required. Ability to inspect prepared doors for defects and ensure all surfaces meet quality standards before turning the work over to the painter for finish application. Experience setting up and maintaining a clean work area, properly disposing of preparation materials, and ensuring tools and supplies are readily available to support the painter throughout the project. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in occupied environments while minimizing disruption to residents, tenants, or customers.
