Job Description Summary The Painter maintains interior and exterior building wall finishes and surfaces, with paint, coatings, wall coverings, plaster and other repair materials, removes and installs wall trim and cove base materials, or other accessory items as needed to complete the work professionally and safely. Job Description The Painter will:
Maintains interior and exterior building wall finishes and surfaces, with paint, coatings, wall coverings, plaster and other repair materials. Selects pre-mixed paints or prepares paints to match specific colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances. Prepares site by covering furniture, equipment and floors with drop cloths and masking doors, windows and other trim where required. Prepares surfaces for painting, including cleaning, minor repair and patching of metals, wood, masonry, and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary. Perform wall patch/hole and crack repairs. Installs, removes, and replaces cove bases, ceiling tiles, wall mounted items, and similar accessory items as needed. Install cove base or baseboard. Wipe down cove base and wipe down furniture surfaces with cleaning solutions in common areas. Maintains parking areas, which may include striping the parking lot Performs caulking, sanding, taping, application of special finishes and color matching, waxing and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary. Recommends substitute materials or colors to improve and expedite work. Prepares simple records and time reports. Cuts stencils and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations. Paints signs on such surfaces as bulletin boards, walls, and doors. Performs freehand highlighting, shading and counter-shading, and applies stipple and glaze finishes. Repares and/or installs ceramic tile floors, walls and ceilings. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to the Facilities Manager. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required High school diploma and one year of trade school or two years' experience as Painter or technician in a similar sized institution. General understanding of painting and building repair tools and equipment. A demonstrated skill in painting, plastering, and wall coverings installation and basic understanding of other trades acquired through similar on-the-job training. Ability to read, comprehend and transmit detailed instructions in writing and orally. Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions sometimes under stress. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with Administrative medical and supervisory staff employees, patients, representatives of contractors, vendors, etc.
Physical Demands:
Sits, stands, bends, kneels, climbs stairs, ladders, and equipment, has good sense of balance to work on heights. Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools. Working Conditions Some exposure to extreme degrees of heat, noise, dust and dirt areas. Pay and Benefits•:

19.56 per hour- $33.43 per hour
