What you'll be doing Painting & Surface Preparation Perform skilled painting tasks including scraping, patching, sanding, priming, and applying paint or finishes. Prepare surfaces by filling cracks, holes, and joints with compound, putty, or caulk; sand and smooth surfaces. Mix and match paints to achieve proper color and finish. Apply multiple coats and complete touch-ups as needed. Worksite Setup & Cleanup Protect surrounding areas using coverings and tape. Move furniture and remove fixtures prior to painting. Clean work areas , remove splatters, and maintain equipment. Tools, Equipment & Safety Use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Operate ladders and spray guns for high or large-surface projects. Comply with MIOSHA regulations and maintain safe, orderly workspaces. Identify and report issues such as defective materials or unsafe conditions. Additional Responsibilities Estimate materials and costs for assigned projects. Perform departmental duties as assigned. Engage in proactive problem solving to ensure proper finish application. Job Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Valid Michigan driver's license with acceptable driving record At least one year of painting experience Knowledge of finishes, compounds, and equipment Basic carpentry understanding preferred Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to pass background checks Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Our strength lies in diversity - empowering us to meet the distinct needs of over 34,000 individuals we're honored to serve each year
