Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Painter to oversee and execute painting projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. As a key leader on our team, you will be responsible for managing painting crews, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and adhering to safety standards. Your expertise in various painting techniques, surface preparation, and construction processes will drive the success of our projects. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate painting crews on multiple construction sites, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to specifications. Prepare surfaces thoroughly through sanding, scraping, caulking, plastering, and other surface preparation techniques aligned with construction standards. Apply paint using brushes, rollers, spray guns (including airless and conventional spray systems), ensuring even coverage and high-quality finishes. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and construction plans to accurately execute painting tasks. Manage the use of hand tools, power tools, scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment safely while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and protocols. Conduct color matching using visual color comparison methods and apply color theory principles to achieve desired aesthetic outcomes. Perform specialized coatings such as industrial paint applications, structural painting, masonry finishes, stucco work, and restoration projects. Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations by utilizing respiratory protection equipment and following strict safety protocol adherence at all times. Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to coordinate fixture installation, carpentry tasks like trim or frame carpentry, drywall finishing, or masonry work as needed. Experience Proven experience leading painting crews in residential, commercial, or industrial construction environments. Extensive knowledge of construction estimating processes related to painting projects. Strong understanding of coating types, surface preparation techniques, and application methods including spray painting (airless/conventional), brush painting, roller painting, and schematics reading. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints for accurate project execution. Familiarity with safety regulations related to construction site work including respiratory protection protocols. Hands-on experience with a variety of hand tools, power tools (such as sanders or grinders), scaffolding setup, ladders use safely and effectively. Ability to perform surface repairs like caulking or plastering; knowledge of renovation processes is a plus. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations; carpentry or handyman experience is advantageous for multi-trade coordination.
