Job Title:
Painter Job Description This role focuses on preparing and finishing interior and exterior surfaces to a high standard using a variety of painting techniques and tools. You will handle all aspects of paint preparation, application, and cleanup while following strict safety procedures and quality specifications. Responsibilities Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by sanding, scraping, masking, and repairing imperfections to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish. Apply primers, paints, stains, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers in accordance with project specifications. Repair damaged or imperfect surfaces and prepare walls and other substrates for final coating. Operate and maintain painting tools, spray guns, and paint machines safely and efficiently. Inspect completed work for uniformity, coverage, and adherence to quality and specification requirements. Protect surrounding areas, fixtures, and surfaces using drop cloths, tape, and other coverings to prevent damage or overspray. Assist with light construction, preparation, or cleanup tasks on job sites as needed. Follow all safety procedures and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as required for the job. Essential Skills At least 2 years of residential or commercial painting experience. Proficiency in painting techniques, including brush, roller, and spray application. Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including sanding, scraping, masking, and surface repair. Ability to operate and maintain spray guns, paint machines, and related painting tools. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce uniform, high-quality finishes. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Commitment to following safety procedures and using required PPE at all times. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with a variety of primers, paints, stains, and coatings used on interior and exterior surfaces. Experience working on both residential and commercial job sites. Ability to assist with light construction and job-site cleanup tasks. Strong work ethic and reliability in completing projects on schedule. Comfort working in changing environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings. Why Work Here? The role involves frequent use of painting tools such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, and paint machines, as well as personal protective equipment in line with safety standards. The work is physically active, requiring lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and moving around job sites throughout the day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Helena, MT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
