Job Description

Description Painter & Insulator Description The Painter & Insulator is responsible for performing industrial painting, coating, and insulation work throughout the facility, including specialized work in the refrigeration environment. This role ensures that all ammonia, gas, water, and air lines are properly painted, labeled, and insulated according to safety, regulatory, and company standards. The technician supports plant operations by maintaining protective coatings, applying insulation to piping and equipment, and completing both scheduled and unscheduled tasks as directed by leadership. Responsibilities Safely perform industrial painting and coating on ammonia, gas, water, and air lines throughout the refrigeration and facility environments. Apply, repair, and maintain insulation on piping, valves, tanks, and mechanical systems. Use ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms to access piping and equipment for painting and insulation tasks. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, or applying primers to ensure proper adhesion and long‑lasting coatings. Follow all color‑coding and labeling standards for utility lines, especially ammonia and other critical systems. Inspect lines, piping, and equipment to identify areas needing paint, coating, or insulation repair. Complete all assigned work orders—scheduled and unscheduled—in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Assist maintenance personnel with general tasks when needed to support daily plant operations. Document all work performed according to safety, food safety, and company policy requirements. Follow all required safety procedures, including PPE use, fall protection, LOTO, confined space, and hot‑work rules. Perform other duties as assigned. Functional Requirements Industrial painting or insulation experience preferred but not required. Ability to work safely around ammonia refrigeration systems and other industrial utilities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and around moving mechanical equipment. Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical tasks required for painting and insulation work. Able to follow supervisor direction and complete tasks independently. EOE/VETS/DISABILITY
