Glazer / Painter - Historic Steel Windows Do you take pride in careful, detailed work? Do you enjoy working with your hands and seeing the finished result of a job done properly? Would you like to be part of a small team of craftsmen working on extraordinary historic homes and buildings? Seekircher Steel Window is looking for a Glazer / Painter to join our restoration team. We are a boutique company specializing in the repair and restoration of historic steel casement windows. Our company has been in business for 50 years, and our work is highly specialized. We restore windows that are often original to significant homes, apartments, and historic buildings throughout the region. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong painting experience, attention to detail, and an interest in learning a specialized trade.
Responsibilities include:
Stripping metal windows Priming and brush painting Glass installation Putty glazing Job preparation, setup, breakdown, and cleanup Assisting with other restoration tasks as needed Our workshop is located in Northern Westchester. For roughly 20-30% of the year, work is performed in the shop. The remainder of the year is typically spent on job sites, mostly in Westchester County, Northern New Jersey, Southern Connecticut, and occasionally New York City. Some travel is required on a project-by-project basis. Applicants must be willing to travel out of town when needed, including for longer projects.
Requirements:
Several years of professional painting experience, including brush and detail painting Construction-related work experience Experience with putty glazing Strong attention to detail Ability to work carefully, efficiently, and as part of a small team Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Must be able to communicate effectively in English Clean driver's license and reliable transportation We provide the tools and equipment needed for the role.
About the opportunity:
Seekircher Steel Window is a small, well-respected company with a long-standing reputation in a specialized craft. We provide on-the-job training and are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company. This is a year-round, Monday-Friday position. Typical shop hours are 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
