Multi-Family Apartment Community Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Painter to join our maintenance team at a multi-family apartment complex. This full-time position is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of the property through interior and exterior painting, unit turnover prep, and general cosmetic upkeep. The Painter works under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager to ensure all units and common areas are clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing for current and future residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform interior and exterior painting of apartments, buildings, and common areas Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, patching holes, caulking, and priming Complete painting work for apartment turnovers in a timely manner Perform touch-ups in occupied and vacant units as needed Inspect vacant apartments and identify areas needing paint or cosmetic repair Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including protecting floors, fixtures, and furnishings during projects Assist with minor maintenance tasks related to painting prep (drywall repair, light carpentry touch-ups, etc.) Maintain exterior curb appeal through scheduled painting and upkeep of property surfaces Respond to maintenance requests related to paint or wall damage Assist with seasonal upkeep tasks such as exterior touch-ups and weather-related repairs Follow safety procedures and maintain proper use of tools, ladders, and equipment Work collaboratively with maintenance staff during unit turns and property projects Be available for on-call rotation for emergency or urgent painting-related needs when scheduled
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a painter, preferably in multi-family housing, property management, or construction Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and materials Ability to perform light drywall repair and basic cosmetic maintenance Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Basic understanding of general maintenance practices preferred High school diploma or equivalent preferred
