Must have and maintain a valid drivers license. Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties, including reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, climbing, and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Proven experience in painting, including interior and exterior surfaces. Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks. Ability to supervise a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with light general maintenance. Experience working in an educational setting. Experience working in housing or apartment maintenance
Job Description:
The Painter II performs skilled surface preparation and painting across Texas State University residence halls and apartments. This role combines hands-on painting, minor carpentry and maintenance tasks, and ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and visually appealing.
Job Duties:
Interior Painting Repair and prep drywall, wood, metal, and concrete surfaces, including patching, sanding, and priming. Apply paints, stains, and sealants using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Conduct quality checks for coverage, color accuracy, and finish consistency. Assist the maintenance team during summer operations to ensure residence halls and apartments are ready for occupancy. Paint make-readies for Residence Halls and apartments. Exterior Painting Remove graffiti and weather-damaged coatings. Prep building exteriors through power-washing, scraping, and caulking. Apply protective and decorative coatings to siding, trim, and fixtures. Perform minimal exterior repairs as needed. Administrative Activities Process and update daily work orders in the electronic management system. Maintain accurate inventory records and order paint, tools, and supplies. Participate in staff training, safety meetings, and facility inspections. Review projects and estimate time and material costs. Maintain equipment and supplies in the painting workshop. Supervision and Support Supervise student workers and temporary staff during projects. Assist with light carpentry, general maintenance repairs, and unit make-readies. Provide additional support as needed to meet the needs of the department. Additional Information to
