Under general supervision, apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to protect and decorate interior surfaces, exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the districtQualifications:

Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting trade Ability to properly apply paints Knowledge of and ability to mix paint to match colors Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and the ability to communicate effectively Ability to work independentlyExperience:
Three (3) years' experience in painting fieldMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair 1. Properly prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and removing nails, tape, and tape residue, picture putty, and old paint. Ensure a smooth paintable surface by filling holes and depressions, cracks, and joints with putty plaster, or other filler. 2. Properly protect all non-target surfaces by taping, putting down a drop cloth or using a block. Repair dens board or gypsum board walls by taping, floating, and texturing surfaces and ceilings. 3. Always completely paint all wall or ceiling surfaces by moving furniture, removing pictures or plants, etc. so that the area will not have to be repainted if these things are moved after painting. 4. Select premixed paints of mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors. 5. Apply paint to surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers for that smooth, even coating of paint. Minimize lines left by bristles. 6. Stain, seal, and varnish wood surfaces. 7. Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level. 8. Pick up and deliver painting supplies to campuses; maintain delivery records. 9. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures. 10. Prepare all painted signs required by the district. 11. Receive and complete work orders. 12. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. 13. Maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials and equipment. 14. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean, etc. 15. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. Safety 16. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. 17. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. 18. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition. 19. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. 20. Handle and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures. 21. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. 22. Perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:
23. Ability to supervise and direct painting crews. 24. Assist Foreman with the work orders. 25. Assist Foreman with attaining pricing from vendors for projects. 26. Oversee/assist with projects for the district.Equipment Used:
Brushes, rollers, striping machine, taping and masking equipment, spray equipment, sand and water blaster, air compressor, dry wall tools and equipment, hand tools, ladders, scaffolding. Light truck or van. Computer and other office equipment.Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress in a typical school environment with frequent interruptions. Strenuous standing, stooping, walking, climbing ladders, bending, pushing, and pulling, must be physically fit and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Working indoors, outdoors, in extreme temperatures, including hot and cold temperature swings, inclement weather, works with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
