Painter Foreman Job Description This role leads industrial and commercial painting projects for both new construction and existing buildings, with a strong focus on interior walls and some exterior work. You will oversee and perform painting tasks using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes in medical, retail, and other commercial environments. The position involves hands-on work at active jobsites and requires strong technical painting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to guide others to meet project deadlines. Responsibilities Perform and oversee painting functions for industrial and commercial projects, including new construction and existing building renovations. Apply paint coatings to interior walls and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns, ensuring consistent coverage and high-quality finishes. Use airless spraying techniques, including HPLV airless sprayers, on large industrial projects, and ensure proper setup, operation, and cleanup of equipment. Execute brush and roll applications, including cutting in without the use of tape, to produce clean, precise lines and edges. Complete surface preparation activities such as sanding, taping, mudding, and general paint prep to ensure surfaces are ready for coating. Perform jobsite cleanup, including removal of debris, paint materials, and equipment, maintaining a safe and orderly work area. Work on various commercial facilities, including medical buildings, office buildings, and other multi-tenant or multi-family environments, as assigned. Collaborate with a team of painters and other trades on-site, coordinating tasks to meet project schedules and quality expectations. Follow project plans, specifications, and instructions to complete work within established timelines and to the required standards. Adhere to safety requirements at all times, including consistent use of required PPE such as hard hats, high-visibility gear, safety glasses, jeans, and boots. Support the build-out of additional projects, such as retail and commercial locations, by providing reliable painting expertise and flexibility in assignment. Work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed to meet project deadlines and client expectations. Essential Skills At least 3 years of professional painting experience. Minimum of 1 year of commercial painting experience. Proficiency with paint application using brushes, rollers, and spray guns in industrial and commercial settings. Ability to perform airless spray painting, including HPLV airless sprayers, or a strong willingness and ability to learn these techniques. Skill in cutting in without using tape while maintaining clean, straight lines. Experience with paint prep, including taping, mudding, sanding, and surface preparation. Experience with jobsite cleanup and maintaining an organized, safe work area. Ability to work effectively on industrial and commercial projects, including interior walls and exterior surfaces. Reliability to work a day shift starting at 6:00 a.m. and to support overtime and occasional Saturday work. Commitment to following safety protocols and consistently wearing required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on multi-family buildings. Experience working on office buildings. Experience with a variety of commercial environments such as medical or retail facilities. Comfort working in team-based construction or renovation projects. Projects include medical buildings, office spaces, retail locations, and other commercial and industrial facilities, with a strong emphasis on interior wall painting and some exterior work. You will regularly use brushes, rollers, spray guns, and HPLV airless sprayers, along with standard preparation tools for taping, mudding, sanding, and paint prep. The dress code is jeans and a t-shirt or painter whites, complemented by required PPE including a hard hat, high-visibility gear, safety glasses, jeans, and boots. The work is deadline-driven, and you will operate in an environment that expects consistent productivity, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with other trades and team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $30.00/hr.
