Job Description

Position Summary Responsible for the coordination, installation, and repair of piping and equipment for mechanical systems. This role requires the ability to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all personnel on the job-site (including subcontractors), and work collaboratively across departments and divisions. The ideal candidate will represent the organization with a high degree of professionalism, accept direction seamlessly, and effectively lead and delegate work.
Responsibilities and Duties Site Management:
Responsible for all on-site activity regarding manpower, materials, and scheduling. Serves as the primary point of contact for the customer, general contractor, and owner.
Safety Leadership:
Ensures safety remains the number one priority on the job-site. Conducts pre-safety meetings before project kickoff, as well as weekly safety reports and toolbox talks.
Preplanning & Coordination:
Conducts appropriate preplanning when assigned a new project, including reviewing all plans/specs, identifying pre-fabrication opportunities, and understanding the scope of work. Manages material take-offs, crew sizing, and tool/equipment requirements.
Design Review:
Directs all coordination issues. Reviews drawings with the CAD designer before printing and signs off on those drawings, as well as all drawings heading to the fabrication shop. Attends all relevant scope-of-work coordination meetings.
Scheduling & Productivity:
Minimizes downtime by scheduling all work to be performed by employees, other trades, and subcontractors. Lays out all work for the crew at least one week in advance. Utilizes a Four-Week Look Ahead and sets performance goals to ensure project estimates meet or exceed actual installation standards.
Inventory & Logistics:
Handles all orders and deliveries—ordering only what is needed to keep returns to a minimum. Tracks backorders, releases purchase orders, and updates the submittal log. Orders material by area utilizing the "Bag and Tag" method.
Project Communication:
Communicates at least once per week with the Project Manager to review productivity, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and manpower issues.
Quality Control:
Walks the job site daily to inspect progress, quality of workmanship, and safety compliance.
Project Closeout:
Manages the completion of final testing, equipment start-up, and owner sign-offs. Completes valve tag charts, stenciling, punch-lists, and ensures as-built drawings are finalized and turned over to the Project Manager.
Demobilization:
Oversees clean-up and demobilization by returning excess material to suppliers and ensuring site trailers are fully cleaned.
Qualifications and Experience Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience in field plumbing, sprinkler, or heating operations with a stable work history.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Trade School is a plus).
Certifications Required:
Valid Driver's License, State/Journeyman Trade License, OSHA 30-hour certification, and CPR certification. Job Skills Proficiency in reading blueprints and a strong knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation. Ability to fabricate offsets and complete basic material take-offs. Working knowledge of all hand and power tools, and ability to operate heavy machinery. Strong mathematical and communication skills, with the ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Physical Requirements Eyesight correctable to 20/50. Ability to work long hours on your feet, perform shift work, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Comfortable working at heights; able to lift tools/materials and climb ladders and scaffolds. Must provide own basic hand tools. #peg2
