  • This role focuses on fitting and installing stainless steel piping of various sizes to support the fabrication, modification, and installation of rocket and spacecraft components. You will work with precision tools, read and interpret drawings, and collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to build high-quality piping systems in a cutting-edge aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Fit and install stainless steel pipe in sizes including 2", 3", 6", and 10" for a variety of small and large assemblies.

+ Use bevelers, threaders, and other end preparation machines to prepare pipe ends accurately and efficiently.

+ Apply sound pipe-fitting techniques and methods to assemble, align, and secure piping systems.

+ Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions quickly and accurately to support measurements, layout, and fabrication work.

+ Collaborate with the area lead to confirm proper material selection, pipe sizing, and callouts for each project.

+ Analyze drawings and specifications to plan pipefitter operations and sequence of steps, even when detailed procedural information is limited.

+ Make continuous improvements to operations by helping reduce turnaround times, streamline work processes, and support a cooperative team environment.

+ Fit all sizes of piping on various assemblies, ensuring correct alignment, orientation, and clearances.

+ Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineering staff, and planners to achieve build efficiency and resolve technical questions.

+ Modify, repair, assemble, and install rocket and spacecraft components that incorporate piping systems.

+ Assist with general pipe installation, threading, and piping system layout as needed.

+ Support fabrication activities related to piping, including working from blueprints and fitting pipe to meet tight tolerances.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Hands-on experience fitting stainless steel pipe, including 2", 3", 6", and 10" sizes.

+ Proficiency using bevelers, threaders, and other pipe end preparation machines.

+ Working knowledge of pipe-fitting techniques, methods, and best practices.

+ Ability to read, understand, and analyze drawings and specifications for piping and assemblies.

+ Strong math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions quickly and accurately.

+ Ability to collaborate closely with area leads, supervisors, engineers, and planners to ensure accurate material callouts and sizing.

+ Proven ability to plan and execute fitter operations and work steps with limited procedural guidance.

+ Demonstrated experience fitting piping on both small and large assemblies.

+ Clear and effective verbal communication skills within a production and engineering environment.

+ High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience with general pipe fitting, pipe installation, and piping systems in an industrial or fabrication setting.

+ Experience in fabrication work, especially within aerospace or other high-precision industries.

+ Exposure to rocket or spacecraft components, or other complex mechanical assemblies.

+ Familiarity with welding processes such as MIG and TIG and how they interface with piping and structural components.

+ Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings in a manufacturing environment.

+ Comfort working with carbon steel and stainless steel materials.

+ Strong focus on continuous improvement, efficiency, and quality in daily work.

  • This is a Contract position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $35.

00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
