  • Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Fitter / Fire Sprinkler Mechanic
  • Job Description
  • This role focuses on installing, fitting, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems on mid-rise and high-rise construction projects. You will work with various types of pipe and fittings, operate specialized threading equipment, and help ensure that fire protection systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with blueprints and project specifications.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Install and fit screw pipe and groove pipe for fire sprinkler systems, including main lines and branch lines.

+ Utilize a 300 machine to thread pipe accurately and efficiently as part of daily installation tasks.

+ Install approximately 100 linear feet of main line per day while maintaining quality and safety standards.

+ Perform sprinkler fitting work, including setting sprinkler heads, assembling sprinkler pipe, and working with cast iron components.

+ Assist in the installation and connection of fire pumps and related fire protection system components.

+ Interpret and work from blueprints to lay out, measure, and install piping and sprinkler systems according to design specifications.

+ Coordinate with plumbing and mechanical trades to ensure proper integration of fire sprinkler systems with other building systems.

+ Inspect completed work to verify proper alignment, secure fittings, and compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.

+ Maintain and use hand tools, equipment, and PPE correctly, ensuring tools are available and in good working condition each day.

+ Follow all site safety procedures and maintain required physical certifications while working on active construction projects.

  • Essential Skills
  • + 8-10 years of experience in fire sprinkler fitting or as a fire sprinkler mechanic.

+ Strong proficiency in sprinkler fitting, including installation of main lines, sprinkler heads, and associated piping.

+ Ability to utilize a 300 machine for threading pipe and working with screw pipe and groove pipe.

+ Hands-on experience with sprinkler pipe, cast iron pipe, and related fire protection system components.

+ Demonstrated ability to install approximately 100 linear feet of main line per day while maintaining quality.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply them accurately in the field.

+ OSHA 30 certification.

+ SST 10 certification.

+ Knowledge of fire pumps and fire protection systems and their integration into building infrastructure.

+ Competence in using standard plumbing and mechanical hand tools safely and effectively.

+ Familiarity with mid-rise and high-rise building construction practices.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety on active job sites.

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a coordinated installation team.

+ Physical ability to perform tasks that require standing, lifting, and working at heights, with valid physical certifications as required by the site.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based on mid-rise and high-rise construction projects across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.

Typical work hours fall between early morning and mid-afternoon, with shifts generally starting around 6:00-7:00 a.m. and ending around 2:30-3:30 p.m., depending on project needs. You will work on active construction sites, often at heights and in varying weather conditions, using a range of hand tools and a 300 machine for pipe threading. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and you are expected to bring and maintain your own hand tools and required physical certifications. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with close coordination among multiple trades.

  • The pay range for this position is $30.

00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
