Assemble and install valves, fitting and pipe and boxes composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement Test pipes for leakage. Measure and cut pipe Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, and tampers Must have in-depth knowledge of various types of underground pipe Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems Dig trenches to desired or required depths, if necessary, by hand or using trenching equipment Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels Be able to understand written or verbal instructions and plans to complete project Reliable attendance- must have or arrange transport to job sites Follow directions from Foremen, Superintendents When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor Position Requirements Required Skills/Abilities Skilled tradesman who will be responsible for grading trenches, assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for High Density Polyurethane (HDPE) pipes, storm pipes, sanitation sewers, manholes, boxes and water mains. Will ensure ground is prepped and trenches are dug out for pipe placement and may also grade and level culverts, position pipe, seal joints and backfill. Education and Experience Minimum of (2) years job-related experience Physical Requirements Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. Carry at least 30 pounds. Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
