In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining underground piping systems essential for wastewater, stormwater, sanitary drainage, and utility infrastructure projects. Your expertise will help ensure the safe and efficient installation of pipelines according to construction plans and technical specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse utility system installation projects that make a lasting impact on community infrastructure. Duties Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans to accurately install underground pipelines and utility systems. Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and front loader trucks to excavate trenches and prepare sites for pipe installation. Install sanitary sewers, water supply systems, stormwater systems, and underground utilities with precision following blueprint specifications. Use pipe lasers and other specialized tools to ensure proper alignment and elevation of pipelines during installation. Conduct trenching activities while adhering to federal construction safety regulations and safety protocol standards. Perform welding tasks as needed for pipe joining or repair work; utilize hand tools for cutting, fitting, and securing pipes. Locate existing underground utilities using utility locating equipment before excavation to prevent damage or accidents. Follow all safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation, trenching procedures, and utility system installation projects. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspection reports, safety logs, and project documentation. Experience Proven experience as a pipe layer or in a similar role within construction site environments involving pipeline or underground utility installation. Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and front loader trucks safely and efficiently. Strong knowledge of construction trenching techniques, sewer line installation, sanitary drainage systems, water supply systems, and stormwater infrastructure. Skilled in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans; capable of interpreting complex technical specifications. Familiarity with utility locating methods and underground utilities installation procedures. Experience with welding techniques relevant to pipeline assembly or repair work. Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols at all times during operations. Ability to work effectively on construction sites with a focus on precision pipe installation within pipeline projects involving sanitary sewers or underground utilities.
