A Pipe Fitter installs and repairs pipe systems in commercial or industrial and manufacturing structures, such as pipes for heating and cooling systems. Works on pipes that carry gas, sprinkler systems, or pipes that carry steam under pressure.
ASAP Position Summary We are currently seeking experienced Fab Shop Pipefitters for immediate opportunities in the DFW area . This position will work in a fabrication shop environment assembling, fitting, and preparing piping systems and components for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have strong pipefitting experience, be comfortable working from isometric drawings and blueprints , and have the ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and prepare piping for welding and fabrication. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret isometric drawings, blueprints, spool drawings, and specifications . Measure, cut, bevel, fit, and align pipe according to project requirements. Perform accurate pipe layout and fit-up prior to welding. Assemble piping spools, fittings, flanges, valves, and related components. Work with various pipe sizes and materials as required by the project. Use grinders, beveling machines, saws, torches, and other fabrication tools. Verify measurements, elevations, angles, and dimensions before final fit-up. Perform flange alignment and bolt-up. Identify pipe, fittings, and materials according to specifications. Coordinate with welders to ensure proper fit-up and preparation. Inspect completed assemblies for proper alignment and dimensional accuracy. Maintain productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced fabrication environment. Follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Communicate material, drawing, or fabrication issues to shop supervision. Qualifications 3+ years of pipefitting experience preferred. Previous fab shop experience strongly preferred . Strong ability to read pipe isometrics, blueprints, and spool drawings . Experience with pipe layout, measurement, cutting, beveling, and fit-up. Knowledge of fittings, flanges, valves, and piping components. Ability to use tape measures, levels, squares, and other precision measuring tools. Experience working around welders and welding operations. Ability to perform accurate pipe fit-up with minimal supervision. Must understand basic pipefitting math and measurements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Must be dependable and able to maintain the required work schedule. Ability to work safely in a fabrication shop environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move piping materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work throughout the shift. Ability to work around industrial machinery, welding operations, and fabrication equipment. Must be comfortable working extended shifts as required.
