Locate Technician Location:
Overland Park, KS 66207 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Locate Technician to join our team in Overland Park, KS. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field. Key Responsibilities Locate and mark underground utility lines including gas, water, electric, telecommunications, and sewer systems. Use specialized equipment such as ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators, and GPS devices to accurately identify utility locations. Interpret utility maps, blueprints, and other documentation to assist in locating underground infrastructure. Communicate with contractors, excavators, and utility companies to coordinate safe digging practices. Document and report findings accurately and timely using company software and reporting tools. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while working in the field. Respond promptly to locate requests and emergency situations as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred. Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings. Familiarity with utility locating equipment and technology. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and lifting. Work Environment This position involves working primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The Locate Technician will spend significant time on foot at construction sites and other locations requiring utility identification.
