Locate Technician Location:
North Kansas City, MO Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in North Kansas City, MO. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
  • Locate and mark underground natural gas facilities using specialized equipment and maps.
  • Respond promptly to locate requests and complete assignments within designated timeframes.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and customers to clarify locate requests and provide status updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of locate activities, including documentation of marks and any discrepancies found.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent damage to underground infrastructure and ensure personal safety.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and utility drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Familiarity with utility locating equipment and technology is a plus.
Work Environment This position involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and may require travel within the Kansas City metropolitan area. The role requires physical activity, including walking over uneven terrain and standing for extended periods.
