DEPARTMENT
The Greenwood Commissioners of Public Works (CPW) was founded in 1896 and proudly our communities with Electric, Gas and Water utilities. $42,931.20•$60,070.40

Thursday Position Summary:
Under regular supervision, assists in the installation and maintenance of the CPW gas system; performs various gas system maintenance duties. Operates heavy machinery as required. Reports to the Gas Construction and Regulatory Compliance Supervisor.
Work Environment:
Requires working in difficult weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.); Physically demanding work; must be able to work in confined spaces. Requires being on an "on call" rotation. On-call requires responding to emergency calls 24/7, during employee's scheduled on-call week or major weather events. Required Skills and Qualifications Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one year of general mechanical maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Requires a Class A CDL license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. Must become Operator Qualified according to the Department of Transportation and Office of Pipeline Safety Operator Qualification rule, within one year of hiring.
Essential Job Functions:
This is an entry-level position, and duties include, but are not limited to, installation of new gas lines and maintenance of existing gas lines; repairs and maintains valves, regulators, steel lines, and other gas system components. Employee will operate a variety of equipment including various hand tools and power tools. Employees must have great customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
