This is a field-based operations position requiring hands-on experience with pipeline and water systems. The Pipeline Operator will monitor system performance, operate and troubleshoot equipment, perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance, respond to operational issues, and coordinate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to maintain reliable water movement and disposal operations. The successful candidate will take ownership of assigned systems and facilities and develop a strong understanding of where water is coming from, where it is going, how much is moving, what the system can handle, and when operating conditions are outside normal parameters. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Pipeline & Water System Operations Operate and monitor produced water and source water pipeline systems, pump stations, storage facilities, ponds, disposal wells, and associated equipment. Start, stop, and adjust pumps and valves to maintain required flow rates, pressures, and operating conditions. Monitor pipeline pressures, tank and pond levels, flow rates, volumes, and overall system capacity. Perform routine field inspections of pipelines, facilities, valves, meters, pumps, tanks, ponds, and other equipment. Identify leaks, pressure abnormalities, equipment failures, unusual operating conditions, and other potential issues. Take appropriate corrective action within established operating procedures and escalate issues when necessary. Coordinate water movements between customers, pipelines, storage facilities, ponds, disposal wells, and other system assets. Perform system line-ups and operational adjustments based on customer demand, system capacity, and current operating conditions. Maintain awareness of system constraints and proactively communicate potential issues before they impact operations. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, meters, filters, piping systems, and related equipment. Diagnose operating problems and determine when additional support is required. Escalate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, or well-related issues to the appropriate personnel. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and third-party contractors for repairs, troubleshooting, and major maintenance activities. Assist with commissioning, startup, and operational turnover of new pipelines, pump stations, SWDs, and water facilities. Support pigging, flushing, hydrotesting, pressure testing, line clearing, and other pipeline maintenance activities. Maintain equipment and facilities in a clean, safe, and operational condition. SCADA & System Monitoring Monitor system operations through SCADA and other remote monitoring platforms. Respond to SCADA alarms and abnormal operating conditions in a timely manner. Verify field conditions and equipment status when SCADA data indicates a potential operating issue. Compare SCADA information with actual field conditions to identify discrepancies or developing problems. Communicate system conditions, alarms, outages, and operational changes to management and other operators. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve automation, instrumentation, system reliability, and operational efficiency. Safety & Environmental Compliance Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Conduct routine facility and pipeline inspections and identify potential safety, environmental, or operational risks. Respond appropriately to spills, leaks, equipment failures, and other operational incidents. Follow established procedures for spill prevention, containment, reporting, and cleanup. Maintain clean, safe, and organized facilities and work areas. Participate in safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-job meetings, and emergency response activities. Properly document incidents, inspections, maintenance activities, operating conditions, and other required information. Report unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and equipment deficiencies promptly. Customer & Field Coordination Coordinate with customer field personnel regarding water deliveries, produced water takeaway, flow rates, pressures, and operational issues. Communicate system constraints, operational changes, or outages promptly to internal stakeholders and customers. Coordinate with trucking companies, contractors, landowners, maintenance personnel, and other field personnel as required. Provide timely updates regarding system conditions, facility status, water volumes, and significant operating issues. Basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills. Experience with SCADA systems, remote monitoring, or automated control systems preferred. Ability to recognize abnormal operating conditions and make sound field decisions. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between field locations. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to respond to operational issues outside normal business hours when required.
