Experienced Plumbing Service Technician - Northern Colorado Penguin Home Services LLC Boulder, CO Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $120,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Fuel card Company truck Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off 401(k) 4% Match Vision insurance 401(k) matching Professional development assistance Tools provided Qualifications Customer communication Pricing Employee relationship building Van handling Driver's License Full Job Description Come build something with us Penguin Home Services is putting together a modern residential plumbing company in Northern Colorado — one built on great craftsmanship, an experience customers actually want to tell their friends about, and real long-term careers for skilled tradespeople. We're a young company, and we're building it on purpose. We're not a corporate churn-and-burn shop, and we're not chasing size for its own sake — we're after being the best in our market, built on honest work and quality over volume. Because we're still early, we're small enough that every person we bring on genuinely shapes who we become. This is one of our first plumbing hires, so you won't be stepping into someone else's playbook — you'll help write it, and you'll grow right alongside the company as it does. And just as much as the trade skills, we care about the person behind them. Culture matters a lot to us — we want someone who clicks with the team, gets along easily with the people around them, and makes the crew better to be part of. Get that right and everything else gets easier. For the right fit, we're glad to put in the time to help you grow. We're looking for an experienced plumbing service technician who can run their own van, own their jobs from the driveway to the sign-off, and take care of customers like they're the whole reason we exist. Because they are. What you'll do You'll run residential (and light commercial) plumbing service calls independently — diagnostics, repairs, replacements, and installs across water heaters, fixtures, drains, piping, and everything in between. Just as importantly, you'll be the face of Penguin in the customer's home: walking them through what's going on, laying out clear options, and helping them choose the right solution without pressure or games. Sales experience is a real plus here. A great service tech doesn't just fix the problem in front of them — they educate the homeowner, spot what's coming next, and present it honestly. If you already have that instinct, you'll do well. If you don't yet, we'll train you. You'll also keep every job code-compliant and every worksite clean and professional, coordinate with our qualifying license holder on permits, inspections, or the more complex jobs, and give us real feedback on how to sharpen pricing, systems, and workflows as we grow. As the team expands, there's room to help train and mentor the people who come after you. What we're looking for A minimum of 2 years of hands-on plumbing experience — no license required Able to diagnose, quote, and complete residential service calls on your own, start to finish Comfortable working independently and running your own van and schedule Strong communicator with a genuine customer-first mindset Sales or in-home service-advising experience preferred (not required — we'll train) Reliable, professional, detail-oriented, and someone who takes pride in doing it the right way A valid driver's license and a clean driving record suitable for a company vehicle Interested in a long-term career, not just the next paycheck Don't check every box? If you can run a van, take care of customers, and want to grow, we still want to hear from you. We provide training and support to help the right person level up. What we offer Real earning potential through a commission structure with an hourly base rate as your safety net — when monthly minimums aren't met, the hourly base has you covered, so you get the upside of commission without the feast-or-famine stress. Beyond pay, you get a professionally wrapped company vehicle, a fuel card, and the tools and modern technology to do the job right. We invest heavily in tech specifically to cut down the admin nonsense so you can stay in the field doing what you're good at. You'll have direct access to ownership — your input genuinely shapes how the business runs. And we back your growth with hands-on training, mentorship, and support toward growing your skills and career over time. Compensation 20% commission on all jobs sold and performed, with a $23-28/hour base pay guarantee (depending on experience) if commission targets aren't met. About Penguin Home Services Penguin Home Services is a Northern Colorado-based plumbing company serving residential and light commercial customers across the region — from Thornton in the south all the way up to Fort Collins. Our approach is modern and efficient, but our values are simple: do honest work, treat customers with respect, and take care of the people who make the business run. We're building a brand people genuinely like — one they remember, recommend, and come back to.
