6-Month Contract-to-Hire The Opportunity Brooksource is partnering with the University of Central Florida to hire a Plumber I to join the Facilities Operations team on the UCF Main Campus. In this role, you'll provide essential plumbing support across campus facilities, including the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing and sanitation systems. You'll help ensure UCF maintains a safe, functional, clean, and efficient environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance to identify and prevent potential plumbing failures. Complete repairs and corrective maintenance identified during inspections or in response to work requests. Install, maintain, test, and repair plumbing components connected to water, gas, air, and sewer systems. Service plumbing systems and equipment in bathrooms, laboratories, kitchens, and other campus facilities. Maintain and operate pumps, faucets, valves, traps, pipes, water heaters, emergency showers, and related equipment. Operate and monitor sewage systems and use recording equipment to troubleshoot issues. Locate and repair plumbing failures and malfunctions. Install, maintain, and repair backflow prevention devices. Respond to emergency plumbing repairs as needed. Assist central shops, contractors, other Facilities Operations teams, departments, and campus events. Perform routine maintenance and project work associated with facilities and capital improvement programs. Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner, documenting labor hours, materials, action codes, and detailed trade notes. Report special conditions, deficiencies, or issues requiring additional attention to supervisors. Maintain compliance with applicable maintenance, health, sanitation, university, state, and federal regulations. Maintain security of tools and materials and participate in required safety training. Support other Facilities Operations zones during staffing shortages or emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an approved plumbing apprenticeship program OR High school diploma and two years of relevant plumbing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of plumbing tools, equipment, materials, and maintenance and repair procedures. Experience with powered drain-cleaning equipment and knowledge of water and gas shut-off locations. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Ability to use electronic devices, including tablets/iPads, for work orders and preventive maintenance checkpoints. General facilities maintenance experience in areas such as HVAC, carpentry, or related trades. Experience using work order management or IWMS systems. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions with strong attention to detail. Ability to work safely with approved environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) chemicals. Ability to operate a vehicle as needed. Experience reading blueprints and technical documentation. Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to support urgent maintenance needs and work across different assignments as needed. Additional Requirements Valid Class E driver's license required. Position may require driving to various locations on and off campus for university business. This position requires completion and passing of a physical examination in accordance with UCF requirements. Candidates must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
