Position Overview Avatar Air is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Residential Plumbing Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and install residential plumbing systems. This is not simply a repair position. Our technicians are expected to thoroughly evaluate plumbing systems, identify immediate and potential concerns, educate homeowners about their options, and recommend appropriate solutions while maintaining honest and professional service practices. The position provides a salary with additional commission/incentive opportunities based on performance. Responsibilities Perform residential plumbing service, diagnostic, repair, maintenance, and installation work. Diagnose plumbing problems accurately and determine appropriate repair options. Conduct thorough plumbing inspections and document findings. Complete Avatar Air's required diagnostic and inspection procedures during applicable service calls. Identify safety concerns, active failures, maintenance needs, and potential future plumbing issues. Clearly explain findings and recommended solutions to homeowners. Present repair and replacement options when appropriate. Provide customers with clear information so they can make informed decisions about their homes. Generate and review estimates with customers. Obtain customer authorization before beginning additional work. Complete approved repairs and installations according to applicable codes and company standards. Test completed work and verify proper system operation. Document service calls, diagnostics, photographs, recommendations, materials, and completed work within company software. Collect payment and complete required job documentation when applicable. Maintain a clean and professional work area inside customers' homes. Protect customer property while completing service work. Maintain assigned tools, equipment, inventory, and company property. Communicate with dispatch and office staff regarding job status, additional work, scheduling issues, and customer concerns. Identify legitimate opportunities for additional services without using unnecessary or high-pressure sales tactics. Help generate repeat customers, referrals, memberships, and positive reviews through excellent service. Participate in technical, customer-service, and sales training. Follow all company safety policies and applicable plumbing codes. Qualifications Previous residential plumbing service experience strongly preferred. Strong plumbing diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities. Knowledge of residential plumbing systems, fixtures, water heaters, drains, supply systems, and related equipment. Ability to perform common residential plumbing repairs and installations independently. Ability to communicate technical problems and solutions clearly to homeowners. Comfortable presenting repair and replacement options to customers. Strong customer-service skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to accurately document work using mobile applications and company software. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with residential plumbing work. Ability to successfully complete company-required background and driving-record screening. Preferred Qualifications Several years of residential service plumbing experience. Experience performing whole-home plumbing inspections. Experience with service-based or performance-based compensation. Experience presenting multiple repair or replacement options to homeowners. Familiarity with field-service management software. Plumbing license or applicable certifications are a plus but are not required unless necessary for the specific work being performed. We expect technicians to identify legitimate needs, educate the homeowner, provide solutions, and allow the customer to make an informed decision.
