ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES SCHEDULE
Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 9 to 5, plus on call
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the facility complex to assist the tradesmen and other workmen in completing their tasks; repairs and maintains machinery. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires graduate of a vocational program having plumbing, heating, electrical and refrigeration courses or equivalent OJT equal to five years or more general maintenance mechanic work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES CPR
& First Aid are required. Must understand and use OSHA rules and guidelines for hazardous materials handling. Must be able to use proper protective equipment for same. Ability to hear and follow directions, and work independently or in a team. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and other facility staff members. Ability and capacity to function on facility fire and emergency response team and use equipment to perform same. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to interface with residents, visitors, vendors, and staff. Requires eye-hand and fine motor coordination to work with tools and equipment. Requires physical ability to carry tools, parts, supplies, climb ladders, and lift or move equipment. Eight (8) hours annual in-service training are required by the Department of Community Health.
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION
Duties require considerable physical effort; constant standing, walking, lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds, with irregular periods of concentration. Considerable mental effort, ability to organize and manage in a high stress environment. Close review of work necessary to prevent equipment damage and for safety sake. Irregular conditions with the possibility of irregular schedules including weekends, exposure to certain levels of stress and subject to injury such as burns, cuts, and bruises.
