Job Description

Position is located in the Physical Plant Department and reports to the Mechanical Manager for all technical and administration matters pertaining to all service, repair and maintenance requests which will be accomplished. This Plumbing position will be responsible for repairs and replacements of all plumbing throughout the campus. T his position will be scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with occasional 24 on call as well as after-hours call response as needed. 1. Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and residential structures, follow building plans and blueprints. 2. Respond, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies in a timely manner as well as perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems. 3. Observe and report, through the work order system, any and all defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on any of the plumbing on campus. 4. Assist in coordinating major plumbing repairs requests as needed. 5. Inspect all plumbing in campus facilities on a routine basis and assure that deficiencies are corrected. 6. Assist as required and cooperate with all Maintenance and Building Services staff in the performance of day-to-day duties and responsibilities. 7. Utilize work order database so that all required information is recorded for future trending and tracking. 8. Review and complete work requests, prepare estimates of time and materials required to accomplish jobs, decide method of work accomplishment, determination and assignment of proper work priorities, and periodic maintenance. 9. Produce and manage a facilities inspection schedule. 10. Coordinate with Second Shift Supervisor and Mechanical Manager regarding work plans and status of ongoing work. 11. Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used. 12. Scheduled occasional 24 hour on-call along with afterhours and emergency call response is required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Employees, when applicable. A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant . Must have a thorough understanding of necessary tools and equipment. Must be able to adjust quickly and efficiently to changes in job priorities. Must be licensed plumber, basic HVAC, electrical, mechanical operation and repair knowledge. Ability to maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment. Attention to detail is required. Good communication skills and a positive attitude. Position requires moderate to heavy lifting, ability to climb ladders and operate maintenance equipment. Valid driver's license.
EDUCATION
Required:
Illinois State Plumbing License, High School Diploma, Relevant work experience.
Preferred :
Training in the trades.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
12-month, non-exempt full-time employee. Position is located on the campus in Bourbonnais. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors. Olivet is a non-union and non-profit organization.
