Job Description

Job Summary The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and mechanical systems across shops, rail yards, buildings, tracks, and right-of-way locations. This position plays a critical role in supporting safe and efficient railroad operations and requires strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to respond to after-hours service needs. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and fixtures (toilets, sinks, showers, etc.) Work on air lines, compressors, heating, cooling, refrigeration, steam, and gas systems Lay out, assemble, and maintain pipe systems, supports, hoses, and related equipment Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings Perform welding and metal fabrication as needed Operate material handling and welding equipment Respond to after-hours call-outs and emergency repairs Maintain compliance with railroad rules, FRA regulations, and safety standards Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; 18+ years old Valid Driver's License Minimum 1 year plumbing and 1 year welding experience Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude English reading and writing proficiency Work Environment & Schedule Work in shops, rail yards, outdoor track areas, and right-of-way locations Must be able to lift, climb, and work in confined spaces After-hours and emergency call-out availability required
Pay:
$32.00 - $42.00 per hour
