Plumber / Fitter Job Description This role works on commercial pipe fitting activities for a school construction project, to install and fit copper piping systems.. Responsibilities Performing commercial pipe fitting work on a school construction project. Work with steam pipe systems, ensuring correct routing, support, and installation according to drawings and codes. Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and project documents to plan and execute daily tasks. Identify and communicate material, tool, or equipment needs to keep work progressing smoothly. Maintain a clean and organized work area in and around mechanical rooms and other assigned locations. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience with plumbing, copper pipe fitting and soldering Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and related construction documents. Proficiency working with boiler piping systems, including hookups and related components. Ability to work safely in mechanical rooms and other construction environments. Capability to perform physical tasks associated with pipe fitting, including lifting, positioning, and securing pipe. Consistent use and understanding of basic safety practices and personal protective equipment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work both outside and inside a new school building, including in mechanical rooms and other active construction areas. The role involves typical commercial construction conditions, such as varying temperatures, noise, and the need to navigate around equipment and materials. You use and wear required personal protective equipment at all times, including steel toe shoes, a hard hat, safety glasses, and a safety vest. Work involves standing, walking, bending, and handling tools and materials throughout the shift as you install and fit piping systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chapel Hill, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
