Job Description This role focuses on commercial plumbing for a high-end Medical Office Building project, with an emphasis on rough-in, installation, and finishing work in a healthcare environment. You will independently install and service complex plumbing systems, ensuring strict code compliance, safety, and quality standards for a facility that supports patient care and infection control. Responsibilities Work independently at a mechanic/journeyman level on commercial plumbing tasks for a Medical Office Building project Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute plumbing installations Perform rough-in installation of domestic water systems using copper, PEX, and CPVC piping Install sanitary, waste, and vent piping systems using PVC and cast iron materials Install and assemble gas piping systems, with medical gas piping experience considered a significant advantage Install and assemble piping, valves, fittings, and complete plumbing systems in commercial structures Complete fixture installation and trim-out, including toilets, sinks, faucets, floor drains, and related components Install and connect mechanical equipment such as water heaters and specialty systems required in a healthcare facility Perform pressure testing, leak testing, and inspections to verify system integrity and compliance Ensure all work meets local plumbing codes, commercial building regulations, and safety standards Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues such as leaks, pressure problems, and layout conflicts Work with plumbing systems that support sanitation, infection control, and patient safety in a healthcare environment Install and maintain systems with strict requirements for water quality, temperature control, and backflow prevention Assist with specialized scopes such as medical gas piping (oxygen, vacuum) and equipment connections for exam and treatment rooms, when required Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area within an active healthcare construction site Essential Skills At least 4 years of commercial plumbing experience Proven ability to work independently at a mechanic/journeyman level Strong experience with rough-in and finish plumbing in commercial or industrial construction Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications Hands-on experience installing domestic water systems using copper, PEX, and CPVC Hands-on experience installing sanitary, waste, and vent piping using PVC and cast iron (DWV) Experience installing and assembling gas piping systems Proficiency in installing fixtures, trim, and mechanical equipment such as water heaters and specialty systems Familiarity with commercial building codes and plumbing safety standards Ability to perform pressure testing, leak testing, and basic inspections of plumbing systems Capability to lift 50 lbs or more and work safely on ladders and lifts Comfort working in tight ceilings, mechanical rooms, and active job sites Ownership of appropriate hand and power tools and access to reliable transportation Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bethlehem, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
