Plumbing Service Technician Job Description The Plumbing Service Technician performs a wide range of residential and light commercial plumbing service, repair, and installation work. This role combines strong hands-on technical skills with clear, respectful communication and the ability to work independently in the field while representing the company in a professional manner. Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service on every job and act as a professional representative of the company. Diagnose, repair, and install residential and light commercial plumbing systems and components. Work with a variety of piping materials including copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and cast iron. Install water heaters, water softeners, UV treatment systems, well pumps, and related equipment. Read and interpret blueprints and documentation to complete installations and repairs accurately. Perform service work including troubleshooting, maintenance, and replacement of plumbing fixtures and systems. Order, pick up, and track parts and materials, ensuring accurate processing and documentation of vendor invoices. Test completed work to confirm proper operation and compliance with applicable plumbing codes and standards. Maintain a clean, organized work truck and a neat, safe jobsite at all times. Complete daily work orders efficiently and accurately, including documentation of work performed and materials used. Communicate findings, options, and recommendations clearly and respectfully to customers. Collaborate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers to complete projects and service calls. Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment to minimize risk of injury. Follow safe work practices when operating tools, equipment, and vehicles. Report or correct any unsafe conditions on job sites or company property as soon as they are identified. Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of the assigned company vehicle. Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the service team and customer needs. Essential Skills Proven plumbing experience in service, repair, and installation for residential and/or light commercial customers. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools, equipment, and plumbing systems safely and effectively. Hands-on experience working with copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and cast iron piping materials. Ability to install and service water heaters, water softeners, UV treatment systems, well pumps, and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents related to plumbing installations. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues efficiently. Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate findings and recommendations to customers. Ability to complete daily work orders accurately and in a timely manner. Commitment to maintaining a clean and professional work environment, including job sites and vehicles. Physical capability to lift 80-100 pounds and perform tasks involving standing, bending, climbing, crawling, and working in confined spaces. Ability to work at heights using aerial lifts, scaffolding, and ladders. Ability to follow safety procedures and consistently use required PPE and safety devices. Ability to work well with supervisors, coworkers, and customers in a team-oriented environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Experience in plumbing service work and pipe installations. Familiarity with backflow prevention practices and equipment. Comfort using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools used in plumbing. Strong attention to detail in documentation, parts tracking, and invoice processing. Professional demeanor and customer-focused mindset. Interest in ongoing professional development and skill enhancement. Ability to adapt to changing schedules and a variety of job sites within the service radius. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work primarily in the field within approximately a one-hour radius of the shop, serving residential and light commercial customers. Most work is performed during an 8-hour, first-shift schedule, providing a consistent daytime work routine. You typically work with a crew of 2 or 3 other individuals, fostering collaboration and support on job sites. A company van is provided after 90 days of employment, or earlier based on performance, and the company covers fuel and maintenance for this vehicle. The role involves working in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor locations, confined spaces, and at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or aerial lifts. You use standard plumbing tools and equipment, work with materials such as copper, PEX, PVC, CPVC, and cast iron, and are expected to follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintaining a clean, organized work truck and a neat, professional appearance on job sites is an important part of the work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Camp Hill, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
