The Role:
The Journeyman/Journeywoman Plumber plans layout, installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems including piping, fixtures, drainage, and water systems to provide the safe condition and operation of all plumbing fixtures and systems according to the required specification of the task or project.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial and industrial environments, underground infrastructure, water distribution systems, sanitary systems, gas piping, and whatever duties are assigned. Journeyman/Journeywoman Plumber is responsible for maintaining the safety of the crew including: Install and repair water supply lines, drainage systems, gas lines, fixtures, valves, and plumbing equipment following plumbing code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints. Install and repair plumbing systems including sinks, toilets, water heaters, pumps, backflow preventers, and commercial plumbing equipment. Install and connect water supply piping, drain lines, vent systems, gas piping, and plumbing apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints. Diagnose and resolve problems in plumbing systems and equipment using testing instruments and diagnostic tools. Test plumbing systems to ensure compatibility, pressure integrity, and safety of components using testing instruments. Measure, cut, thread, assemble, and install plumbing piping and fixtures using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threaders, and pipe cutters. Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Work with building principals and supervisors.
Requirements:
MINIMUM 5
years experience in the plumbing field. Valid Texas Journeyman Plumber License (TSBPE). Must be available to work nights if needed. Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills, professional presence. Valid driver's license. Knowledge of plumbing systems, piping systems, and operating principles. Knowledge of local Plumbing Codes. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Diagnose and resolve problems. Clean background.
