$28.00•30.00/hour DOE | Higher Pay Considered for Strong Experience Mechanical Pump Repair & Rebuilding Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Vacuum Pump Technician / Mechanical Pump Rebuilder to join a small, specialized repair operation in Fremont, CA. This is a hands-on position focused on disassembling, inspecting, troubleshooting, rebuilding, and testing mechanical vacuum pumps from a variety of manufacturers. Direct vacuum pump experience is highly preferred. However, we may also consider mechanically strong candidates with extensive experience rebuilding pumps, motors, compressors, rotating equipment, or similar mechanical equipment. This position also offers a unique long-term opportunity. The current Pump Shop Manager is gradually moving toward retirement, and the right person will have the opportunity to learn the operation and potentially grow into leadership of the pump shop. What You'll Do Disassemble mechanical vacuum pumps for repair and rebuilding Inspect internal pump components for wear, damage, and failure Determine which components need to be repaired or replaced Clean and prepare pump components for reassembly Rebuild mechanical vacuum pumps using replacement parts and rebuild kits Test completed pumps to verify proper operation and performance Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical pump issues Repair and rebuild inventory pumps for customer orders Work on both belt-driven and direct-drive mechanical pumps Perform basic electrical work involving single-phase and three-phase motors Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drill presses, belt sanders, and wire wheels Paint and prepare completed pumps as needed Maintain accurate repair and service information Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow proper PPE and shop safety procedures Learn additional pump manufacturers, models, and repair procedures Communicate technical information regarding repairs as experience develops What We're Looking For Previous mechanical repair or equipment rebuilding experience Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to diagnose mechanical equipment failures Experience disassembling and reassembling mechanical equipment Comfortable using hand and power tools Ability to evaluate worn or damaged mechanical components Basic electrical knowledge Ability to work with single-phase and three-phase motors Strong attention to detail Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently and complete repairs efficiently High School Diploma or GED Vacuum Pump Experience Preferred Experience with any of the following would be highly valuable: Mechanical vacuum pumps Rotary vane vacuum pumps Direct-drive rotary vane pumps Belt-drive rotary vane pumps Scroll pumps Roots blowers Vacuum systems Industrial pump rebuilding Pump repair and service Vacuum equipment troubleshooting Vacuum leak detection #LP
